Who is Sean Cooper?
Sean was born in Bradenton, Florida and grew up in several parts of our state including Palm Harbor, Madison County, and graduated from Forest High School in Ocala. From the age of 3 to 8, Sean grew up in Brazil, South America where he learned a great deal about cross-culture life. He also discovered a passion for soccer.
Married for almost 26 years to Addie Jo, he is the father of two beautiful children. Wyatt attends Milwee Middle as part of their engineering track. Emerson attends Full Sail University where she is studying Game Art. In the mix of their upbringing, Wyatt and Emerson attended Highlands Elementary, Choices in Learning, Millennium Middle School (Emerson for the Art Magnet Program), Milwee Middle, and Winter Springs High School.
Sean is the CEO for USA Unites, a non-profit dedicated to engaging the next generation of peace builders in our country. Over the last six months, Sean and his colleague, Jamila Millette, have taught over 100 workshops on Seminole County Public Schools on how to build healthy relationships.
In seeing firsthand the landscape of our local schools, Sean says:
“I am so proud of our students, teachers and faculty. We have so much strength in this community. I’m honored to meet so many incredible educators on the front lines. The resiliency of our students under so much duress should make all of us proud of their determination.”
Prior to his role with USA Unites, Sean served as a pastor at Northland church from 1996 to 2021. In the span of those 25 years he served in the areas of youth work while also helping develop global partnerships in over thirteen countries. Projects he oversaw included leadership training, the building of a school for orphans in Eswatini (southern Africa), anti-human trafficking efforts, micro-businesses, and various youth camps.
Sean did his undergrad work at Columbia International University, then received his Masters at Asbury Seminary in Leadership Development as well as a graduate certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell.
When spending time as a family, Sean enjoys the outdoor culture of our beautiful state. He enjoys fishing, scalloping, the beach, as well as reading, writing, and cheering on our Orlando City Soccer Club.
